Hi barb: not sure what kind of celebration you have in Penn. We have groundhog here too. Though I think mr. groundhog comes right from your state. They usually bring out a groundhog out of its hiding spot on our afternoon news. This way we see and they can let us know exactly what were headed for in the next coming weeks.

ditto...it's cloudy here today and I've got my fingers crossed! I just checked the website and it looks like Phil saw his shadow this morning which means 6 more weeks of winter for you in Penn. Here's the post: http://www.groundhog.org/prediction/
Today would have been my Dad's 90th birthday...we always celebrated his birthday with a groundhog cake. I hope he's having a great birthday up in heaven!

There are no groundhogs here, instead, we have Rocky the Red Squirrel. The tradition here is, if Rocky sees his shadow he gets shot, and if not he gets to live 6 more weeks, then gets shot. The weather doesn't seem to notice one way or the other, we still get winter for the next 3 months. Yesterday,?? the sun shone for part of the day, when I looked out at the bird feeder, Rocky had a shadow, but he refused to look at it. By the time I got out there with my trusty 22, Rocky had flown the coupe. Darn, no Rocky stew this year. Happy Groundhogs day all, by the way, did you watch the movie "Groundhogs Day" with Bill Murray last night??? Good movie.
