forgive me if its posted somewhere but I looked and didn't find it. How do you win pic of the month? who picks it? do you have to submit it or are they just picked out of the picture gallery? thanks Shelby
During the month Frank selects photos that have been posted to the forums. Ones that not only look great but will hold up to be reduced in size and still show the detail that makes them good shots. He selects usually 5-7 of those and puts them up in a poll and the members vote on the one they like the best. Questions, comments or requests for help on something forum related go in the http://www.gardenstew.com/viewforum.php?f=18 forum. Which is where I have moved this one.
Frank picks out the candidates and then posts a Poll for us to vote on our favorite. I believe it only lasts for two days. And if there's a tie... he'll post a second Poll, etc until there's a winner. If I'm wrong about this... please, someone, correct me.
Toni & Cheryl got it right I have a text document that I keep which has usernames and the associated topics where they posted photos. At the end of the month I visit each topic on the list and choose 6 photos that I think are varied and represent the quality of the month's postings. I crop each photo to a fixed size and then upload for the poll. The order that the photos appear in the poll is chosen randomly using random numbers from http://www.random.org All in all the process takes about an hour, depending on how active the month's posting was.
Thank you for doing it Frank -- it sounds like a good bit of effort is required but it's such a nice thing on our forum!
