Okay, will tell you more later, with photos, but today on the plot I dug onions, shallots, pulled courgettes, picked strawberries and raspberries, dug new potatoes and cut a couple of lettuce. Every year in late spring, as things struggle yet the weeds grow, I moan at Mark about giving the allotment up.....but within a few weeks as the bounty begins, I remember why I do it! :)

Sounds wonderful EJ! I just can't wait for the rewards of my weeding and hard work, but it will be a while yet.

Phew, time to sort out some piccies.

Right, arrived on the site and had a few hours to myself, so weeding was the order of the day. However, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the fruits and veggies that were ready to come home. I was also pleased to see my rather slow to germinate seeds are now coming up in an abundance, so beetroots, carrots and parsnips are back on the autumn menu!

New potatoes, alsorts but these aren't from planted seed pots, these are what we call volunteers, those that were accidently left behind last year and have grown. I usually dig them up as they always seem to be in the wrong place, but some weren't bothering anyone so I left them alone.

Just enough for our BBQ. :)

Lovely abundance of fruit now. Raspberries and strawbs, so sweet from the sun.

The lot were scoffed by us all with cream after our BBQ. :)

Overwintering Japanese onions harvested. We suffer from white rot on our site which seriously damages aliums, so as soon as they are ready, they come home. Some do show signs of the rot, and they will be used up first. It has affected the shallots and garlic more than the onions this year.

My mini courgettes. They aren't a mini variety, but I picked these as the plants themselves are still very small and I would rather it's energy be spent on growing stronger rather than developing early fruits. These will be delicious though.

And the lettuce are all hearting up nicely - I can't believe how quickly these have grown!

I also came across 2 small piles of these droppings. As you can see, they are small, but definately not rabbit. We do have a lot of muntjac deer in the surrounding woods and I have seen deer on the allotment - do you think it is deer poop??

Hehehe - I have held worse I can assure you! It was confirmed today that there are infact 2 muntjac deer living close to our allotment site and they visit every dusk. So far they tend to keep to the edges of the site, but they are venturing out more, so Mark and I are trying to think of scarers we can invent over the weekend to keep them away. He is also hatching various netting related plans, so my allotment could look like fort knox this time next week. I will keep you posted. :)

    Holey-moley, Emma!!
    That's what I'm talkin' about!
I have been waiting and waiting for your first postings of your harvests. I was not disappointed. :) ...jelous to be sure...but not disappointed.
I haven'[t been on here for a couple of days because I've been working so intensely....but what a greeting when I came on tonight.
Between your harvest and Droopy's flower fotos, I'm left sort of speechless.

It will be another day or so before I wiull have the time to make any postings of my own, but I shall enjoy looking at your haul until then.

    Way to go....nice harvest, mate!
