I am planning on starting a tropical paradise and have a lot of work to prepare it. I am addicted to growing rare palm trees so this is going to be the home for lots of my seedlings when the reach a decent size. I also have found several colonies of wild Florida orchids Encyclia tampensis or Butterfly orchids growing on old live oak trees. So I am also going to start growing different orchids in the tree canopies. These are some of the ideas I have so far.If any of you have more suggestions please throw them out there. My, such a lovely place! You are so lucky to have it. I've never planted anything in a tree before, and the only palms I see are the ones in the shops.
You can be the artist with such a lovely canvas to work with. The possibilities are limitless as long as your back holds up with the planting. I am so excited for you and the future paradise yet to unfold. It is already grand.
Mmmm, I needed that (just lost another pansy to the frost, grump!) I'm not at all familiar with your local plants, but I'd start with a few benches!
You have quite a place there! The palms are already looking very magestic I can't wait to see pictures of them in summer! Are the others mossy oaks? I can just imagine the wildlife that you will be attracting soon! I agree with CritterPainter, some benches are definatly in order or maybe a comfy hammock. I'm surprised you don't have many palmettos, maybe those are a Texas plant but we get them around the water here and especially in soggy ground. Please keep the pictures coming, I love seeing such wonderful places and the palms are a wwelcome sight since I'm so far from the ocean these days.
Great thought on the benches. That way have a place to rest after clearing out all those brazilian pepper trees and saw grass. Lots of hard work will be very rewarding down the road. I will keep you updated through the process. Palmetto's are everywhere. But if you think of more ideas throwem' out there. Thanks Brandan
