This Pileated Woodpecker has been in my Mom's yard for several days now. They're the size of a crow, about 19 inches long.

Great pictures, I have only seen one Pileated Woodpecker. It's fantastic you get to see this one often.

We don't get this type of woodpecker here in Scotland so it's great to see your photographs. Thanks for sharing them with us all.

I think these birds are so interesting...I had gone my whole life without seeing one until we moved to the country...it looked so strange flying.

Have you seen a flying squirrel yet? When I lived on the lake in town we had some in the yard. I 'bout crapped the first time I seen one!

I had flying squirrel has a pet when I was a kid. And his name was JERRY. He was so cute. He would ride in my shirt pocket when I rode my bike. And he loved peanut butter. He would thump on jar when he wanted some. My mom used to get so mad cause I opened jar and let him eat out of it.

I feed a female most days and for the last three years she has fed a young one on the sun deck. Here are three on the deck. I don't get to see the male very often.
