Not a lot of birds on the deck now but the pileated woodpeckers still keep calling. This is the male.

They visit your deck??? Wow!! Big woodpecker!! If this woodpecker were any bigger it would show up on air traffic control radar. :)

They have been coming for about five years now. The last three they were feeding the younsters on the deck

They obviously feel safe in your garden and know there's an easy source of food too. Let's hope they never stop visiting so that we can keep seeing their photographs.

Fabulous shots! There is a family of these at work that I have been trying to photograph for YEARS! They always seem to go to the other side of the tree LOL

A few years ago, I took a day off work just to try to get a good photo of a woodpecker. I just sat on the porch with camera on tripod and long lens attached. Then moved to the other side. And then back. Did I ever get a good photo of him? NO! :D
Love seeing all of the birds that visit you Kildale!

Great pics Kildale! We have woodpeckers who taptaptap on our cabin logs for bugs. You should hear them on our metal roof in the mornings! They look like yours but have a more speckled back.
