Has anyone heard of this mint variety and where to get plants. I bought this years ago at Calloway's Nursery in Irving Texas, but have not had any luck this last year in the Austin area. I would not mind starting from seeds, but can't find those either! I remember when I grew this it had that little tang and fresh flavor of pineapple and it was awesome.
http://www.mountainvalleygrowers.com/me ... ensvar.htm http://www.pantrygardenherbs.com/index. ... /index.htm I found plants offered for sale at these two sites, I have never bought from them so I can't vouch for their quality. It seems I have seen seeds in a store around here somewhere, if I see it again I can buy a package and send to you.
Thank you Toni! I will check out those sites. If in your searches you happen to run across colossal basil, let me know. When I grew that, I could wrap it around a stuffed chicken breast the leaves where so big. I am having trouble locating those seeds, and I think they where heirloom. I've checked Park, Thompson Morgan, and Burpee, they don't carry it.
I'll be watching for Colossal Basil and Pineapple Mint seeds when browsing my catalog's budagardener. Good Luck!
I have heard of it and now have a plant of pineapple mint a dear friend sent me and apple and orange and lots more wonderful smells.
Glenndann, aren't they just awesome! I found seeds for the chocolate mint from Parks. I love the fragrances of the different mints....containing them is always a chore once established, but still well worth it.
Renee's Garden sells a Salad Leaf Basil that sounds like it might be similar to colossal basil: http://www.reneesgarden.com/seeds/seeds-hm/herbsA.htm
