I decided to plant some Pink Shamrock,'Oxalis debilis',..at the base of some of my Ferns,..and while they are only in their infancy i think the colour contrast works. Beautiful blooms. That Oxalis and Fern combination is great looking. I have got to get some Verbascum in my garden, that's going on the list for possible fall ordering. You garden always looks so pretty. The colors are all so restful, it looks like it would make a very good nap taking place.
There is a different variety of oxalis growing in the woods around here. I think I might transplant some to my garden. They are quite pretty. Your robin redbreast is different than the robin redbreasts here in the US, but equally lovely. I think this is in the oxalis family... ( photo / image / picture from AAnightowl's Garden )
I wish I had volunteers like yours in my garden. Now I know what a European robin looks like. Great pictures Philip. Thank you. Jerry
Philip you (and others) have inspired me!! After seeing all the lovely flowers in everyone's gardens I've decided to attempt to recreate them in paper. I think they'll add a special touch to my cards - well they will if they turn out. I love your pink shamrock so I think I'll try that one first. :-D
Hi Folks, i did write out a post and just as i submitted it the forum went off line,..that was on Saturday,..i think!,..i lost track of time,..away boating. ------------------------------------------------------ Hi Toni, i certainly am pleased with the Verbascum,..and they do add to a garden height wise,..apart from looking pretty,..lol i do often take a nap in the garden,.. i start reading then nod off. ----------------------------------------------------- Hi Cheryl, it must be a nice sight seeing it growing wild,..is there lots of it?,..i think its best kept in a pot to contain it,..but i do like the colour. ----------------------------------------------------- Hi Kildale, lol,..why am not surprised you liked the Robin!. ----------------------------------------------------- Hi AAnightowl, that looks like a lighter shade of pink Oxalis,..the leaves are Oxalis for certain,..as i mentioned earlier,..best to restrict it to a flower pot,..still a lovely flower. ----------------------------------------------------- Hi Jerry, first time i came across a Robin in America i was shocked to find it didn't look like ours,..i just presumed they were the same world wide,..oh volunteers will come to you,..just keep an eye out. ----------------------------------------------------- Hi Eileen, the little pink flower will look striking against a background of white,..i would like to see the finished card,..you will have plenty of scope putting flowers on cards,..such a wide variety,..don't forget,..the forget-me-not!.
