What are your plans in and around the garden / home this October? Any interesting projects for Hallowe'en?

Plans for garden are to finish cleaning up and weeding the flower beds and planting a few more perennials; second planting of lettuce and spinach and getting the carrots and onions in the vegetable gardens; turning and sifting compost to add to the fallow part of the gardens; harvest the last of the annual herbs; clean and save seed; put more of the lawn clippings in the inside coop (deep litter for winter keeps the ladies warmer); prune some trees while I can still tell which are dead branches and which aren't.
For Halloween, making a pumpkin pie and enjoying the peace and quiet here on the farm.

Will be getting ready for the big move into the family home. Need to start moving stuff over there... getting a fence built for my section of the back yard... probably even start to transplant a few of the plants.
Nothing planned for Halloween... just making sure to have some candy for the few kids that are around.

Finish cleaning up the backyard, I have two fall plant orders coming in October and I am going plant shopping this morning so I will have more perennials to get in the ground.

For Halloween, I will get the decorations out this weekend, mostly my witches **note to self, they need at least one black cat**,
We watch Kiki's Delivery Service and/or Practical Magic while handing out candy and have Gingerbread and hot Cinnamon Apple Cider after the last kid has stopped by.

So much to do. My garden looks like a jungle thanks to the rain and the mild weather. The allotment is also still fully productive and the weeds there just keep on growing, plus I am working flat out to catch up with other peoples gardens after the long summer hols. We go away at the end of the month, when the kids are on half term, down to Devon to see the family, which I am looking forward to. I fear October is going to be one of my most busy monthes!

October is a busy month for me too. I have to get all the gardens at work put to bed for the winter, as well as my own gardens at home. There is firewood to split and stack, garden furniture to put away, boats to winterize, fall cleaning and then Halloween. November will be quieter for me and I can't wait!!

Plot clean-up, winterize... and break-out the bird feeders.
