I have these two plants and one was given to me and the other one was bought on clearance and had no name on the pot, I'm sure someone can give me tne names. Thank you for your help. Flowerlady
I don't know what the first one is, it does look like something I should know tho. Second plant is Maximilian Sunflower Helianthus maximilianii. Birds love the seeds and it's a perennial.
Mmmm I'm a bit stumped too. Does the first plant have fleshy, smooth leaves and a woody stalk? Could you possibly take some more photographs of it from different angles as it may help us to ID it better for you? Thanks.
Eilene, yes the leaves are fleshy but the stem is not woody, it must be a vine type because the stems just fall over so I probably should have put it in a hanging pot. There have not been any flowers just the little long stem like things at the end of the stems. Hope this will help.
I wonder if it could possibly be some type of honeysuckle? Has it ever flowered? If so does it produce berries and what colour are they? Sorry to ask so many questions but I do soooo hate to be stuck for an ID on a plant.
Eileen, No it has not flowered since I have had it but it is not a year old yet so there still may be time for it to. If I remember corectly I bought it in the spring when they put the plants on clearance. Thank you for your help. flowerlady
Cor, curiouser and curiouser. First off I thought it was a succulent, but the later photos don't look so succulent like. The leaves look similar to my Hoya, but not the same. A mystery for sure.
OK I admit defeat on this one!! I've looked through all my books, googled and sent the piccie to gardening friends and - NOTHING!! :'( I think your best plan now is to take your photographs and perhaps a cutting from the plant along to a local nursery or garden centre to see if they can ID it for you flowerlady. Do let us know if you have any joy won't you as I'd love to know the name of your mystery plant?
A Bit of Progress! Our local garden center said the mystery plant was a Pepperomia, but didn't know exactly what species. Maybe that will give us a starting point. Thanks flowerlady
