I have a few plants to be taken indoors over the winter so i purchased a stand 30 inches tall at a reasonable price 16euro or almost $22,..i was pleased with the first stand so went back today to buy a second one,..i may place a shelf standing on the two to store extra plants.

Those are lovely stands! I can see where a shelf, laid on the lower supports between the two stands, would hold at least two more plants.
I love that tall redware pot--wish we had something like that available here.

Those are gorgeous stands. And I like your idea of adding a shelf between them to hold a couple extra plants.
And you just couldn't help but get yourself in the photo too.... huh?
    :D

Well Philip, now Cheryl is going to find some old tiles at the curbside, make a framework out of old iron in her daddy's stash, and come up with a copy of your stands. That girl is incorrigible! At least you can claim to have the originals!

Pretty, they would make a nice side table too.

Philip, great stands. I like the idea of a shelf across the bottom supports.
Lovely redware pot too, looks old is it?

I can almost see the wheels whirling around in Cherly's head now for stands and probably tiling the shelf to go between them.

Not this time Toni... No room for shelves indoors. Although... If I get rid of some stuff... hmmmmm.
And tiling the shelf is a great idea!

Hey Philip if you ever get tired of those stands and fancy a trip to Scotland...... :p
Seriously though those would fit into my cottage so easily and look right at home. :-D

    Hi Folks,
great response to my two stands,..and Eileen hits the nail on the head when she mentioned,.. "Cottage"..,..we both live in a Cottage,..and we know that space is restricted after a few years when you think you have all you need.

My Hallway is 4ft 6inches wide and 6ft 6 inches long,..big enough to over winter plants plus there is a glass door to allow sunshine through,..however its very easy to overcrowd it or make it look grotty,..and so the reasons for the stands,..they have a good appearance,..i could get more but thought the shelf across between the two stands would cover quite a few plants.

Toni and Jane thought the shelf across between the two stands,..on the lower supports was a good idea,..Cheryl agreed about the shelf but didn't say where to put the shelf,..which was my predicament,..shelf on top or bottom?.

Netty and Carol like them,..but Carol has me thinking of another stand as a side table,..in the Sitting Room,..one idea leads to another.

After i took the picture of the flower pot on the stand i spotted i had included myself in the mirror,..rather than take another picture with the flash i presumed nobody would notice,  ,..thanks Cheryl, :D.

Jane,..those redware pots were given as payment for a job i did on a friends laptop,..three large flowerpots.

The other redware pots are bigger,..but to remove the present flowers

Shelf should be on bottom. The top shelf obscures the pretty tile pattern, and having two levels of plants is more interesting than a line-up at one level.
This is the decorating goddess speaking, you may send large checks if you wish.

I agree with Jane... two pots on top... shelf on bottom. You could probably squeeze in 4 more plants that way.

Lol,..i knew i was wrong,,..with the shelf on top it hides the pretty patterned tiles,..in the back of my mind i was thinking,..flowerpots,ground level,cats,..mmmmmmm,making out cheques/checks.

I agree. The shelf on the top looks ramshackle/makeshift. Put it on the bottom and post the pic again. It looks too top heavy with the big board up there. Now, maybe, you could add a wire shelf and that would be ok, if you really need the room.

    Hi Carolyn,
i am going out to the hall to have a cup of tea and rethink.

Of course you were all correct,..the shelf should be on the bottom,..do you get the impression this house needs a woman, ,..now to sort out the other two flowerpots.

I made a little progress today despite the fact it started raining at noon,..i cleared another big Terracotta flowerpot of its occupant transplanted it elsewhere then washed the flowerpot before bringing it indoors,..i still have another large one to take indoors,..wow they sure are heavy enough without soil,..but when full, .

Don't know about positioning these flowerpots.

Ignore the Petrol and Oil containers,..getting ready for the boat.
