Planted lilacs again

    It seems like I plant lilacs every year with little success. I should probably give up but I don't. My sister in law gave us some off shoots from hers and I planted 5 of them over the weekend. Maybe ones I didn't pay for will do better than those I have spent money on over the years.

    Good luck! A lady down the street has lilacs and I can smell them in the mornings, it's wonderful.

    Polly you are not alone. I have difficulty with lilacs too. I think I love them to death!! I have one little bush my neighbor gave me that has 2 blooms on it! It is a little dude but sure smells good! I'll take whatever I can get!

    Polly, maybe you are giving them too MUCH care! I find Lilac's really don't like a lot of fussing. Plant them and ignore them!

    My biggest problem is my husband and the weed whacker. He has trimmed several of them off at the ground. I think the weed whacker is off limits to him this year.

    Good idea Polly. My husband has been banned from the weed whacker for a few years now.
