For a plant lover traveling to Ft. Lauderdale on business, are there any interesting plant-related things to see? Any great nurseries?

    Thanks,

If you can head north 1 & 1/2 hours, there's Odom's orchids. Amazingly huge greenhouses full of different kinds of orchids. Odom's Orchids Inc, 1611 South Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947

You have to really zoom in on the map posted in the link above to even find Ft. Lauderdale, but basically it is just about half way between West Palm Beach and Miami. For a nice drive along the ocean head over to highway A1A and head either north or south. North will take your through Palm Beach with some of the most expensive houses and gardens around. South will take you to Miami Beach with some of the wildest night life around.
For a busier and a lot less easy drive get on I-95, it appears many of the garden centers are along that highway.

Touring the Flagler Museum gardens makes for a beautiful stop. I haven't been there in over 40 years but the on website everything appears to still be there.

When you get to your hotel you should find several brochures of gardens to tour or ask the desk clerk for info.
