Here are some plants from last year's garden.

This is a wild rose that came with the property when we moved here about 6 years ago.

These are just a few of the wild daisies that grow in our yard. They're everywhere and we love them.

This is a white straw flower not fully open. Now I want to grow more so I can dry and save them.

Here are some other straw flowers in various stages of opening.

This is a peony that was also here when we moved in. We recently moved it and so far it seems to be doing fine, although it probably won't bloom until next year.

Did I mention that I love marigolds?

Geraniums and violas in the living room window box my husband made.

Pretty columbine. I have two other varieties but no worthy pictures yet.

I planted Scarlet Runner pole beans last year. It blossomed into a very pretty plant but didn't bear many beans. However, what did grow..... grew!

My husband loves daisies so I suggested we try this African Daisy for something different. We love it.

Actually, I haven't tried drying straw flowers yet. What is statice? Is it the chemical compound which is in a little packet that is used in packaging to absorb unwanted moisture? Where can I get it?

Thanks! :-D We now have three window boxes, all with different flowers in them, such as petunias and marigold.

I have Scarlett Runner beans that I was waiting to plant. But I have a question.... Are the beans edible? I was just wondering! And how big does the plant get?

    Love the pics!

    Thanks! :-D

Yes, they are edible but you may want to shell the very mature ones and eat them like lima beans. My Scarlet Runner grew at least 6 to 7 feet. They're great just as an ornamental plant, too. The foliage is lush and gets quite full of blooms.

I like scarlet runner beans. You can plant them close so they grow quite thick. I put them by a trellis for a screen in front of something I want to hide. I love the flowers. I don't think I've eaten them. I have saved the seeds. Dooley

I'd like to plant them again. I'll have to find a new spot as there are 2 Clematis (Clematii???) growing where the Runner was.

Hmmm... maybe if I plant enough Scarlet Runners, we won't have to paint the house!

Hum! Since we are in the process of slowly painting our house, one side at a time, maybe I should go buy some seeds for Scarlet Runner Beans or anything else that will climb and hide stuff. Dooley

    Prairie,

Statice is a flower, it grows straight up with little tiny flowers all the way up the stalk. It comes in a rainbow of colors. I wish I had some to take pics of, I planted mine too late and it is now too hot for it to bloom. It is a cool weather plant here in hot, humid La. The one other time I had it it was in full bloom at the end of May. I remember bc my "foster son" graduated from high school that year and I put it in vases all over the house, along with glads and other flowers. Looked nice.
