I am posting this for Gem1368. wish i new what is was ...whatever it is it sure is pretty and unusall looking .
i enlarged the pic with the blooms ...sorry the others came out small .....now i want a cleome's espicially since yall all say it so fragrant .
it is .... cleome or spider flower. Very popular, grows well from seed in one season I think. Not sure if it will be perennial for you or not. Jill
It is for sure a Cleome. In Texas it reseeds its self. Its one of my favorites.I have a Dark Pink and Light pink and a light Lilac and Dark Lilac.
None of mine came up this year... :'( They are great flowers aren't they, especially for the border. That close-up really gives anyone not familiar with this plant a good idea of how it looks. They are unusual-looking in terms of many other cottage garden plants. Congrats on this beauty.
I love Cleome and wouldn't want to be without at least a few each year. Great self-seeders and you never know what color combos will come up the next year. Gem's picture appears to be one that has about finished its' bloom cycle so she'll have the cool seed pods next. They are as interesting as the flowers. I love to take pictures of them in the dark.
