Hi and welcome SDAN! Sorry I can't help you identify that flower. I just returned from vacationing in Glacier National Park. You live in a very beautiful place - I'm sure you know that! All of the wildflowers blooming there was overwhelming. The weather was perfect. It was almost 104 here today and very humid. I wouldn't want to trade winters though!

Well I've looked in all my wildflower books but, of course, they're all British ones so not much help. :( I'm still trying to find it on the internet for you but no luck so far I'm afraid.

i was googling for purple wild american flowers.... but no luck :D

whatever it is... i am sure it looked nicer a few weeks before when purple flowers replaced the seed pods.

i would keep it if it was in my garden.

I found several really good sites with loads of pictures of Montana wildflowers and weeds but none of them had a picture of your plant.

You might email support@Montana.Plant-Life.org ....they have a great website for wildflowers Montana.Plant-Life.org
and see if you can send them a picture to ID.
