    Hi all!

I'm having a bit of a bedroom crisis! I'm moving into a new flat (rented so I can't do anything with the actual structure of the room!) and my new bedroom has built in wardrobes all along one wall, 2 large windows with radiators beneath them along another, and a lovely but awkward fireplace surrounded by 2 set back areas (not quite alcoves!) either side.
The wardrobe and underbed will hold most of my stuff so I don't need too much more storage, what I do need is somewhere to put a tv (unfortunately I can't yet afford a snazzy little flatscreen so mine is sizeable though not huge), somewhere to do my makeup etc with a mirror (would like full length but half is okay and the "doing my makeup" bit requires somewhere for my makeup to be stored or for a box to sit on top of) and preferably a bedside table of some sort! If I didn't want the tv in my room I think this would be a much easier problem to figure out :-S

Pic attached, the back wall which you can't see is where the wardrobes are and the door is on the left, at the moment there's a space the size of a small bedside table between the bed and the door. There is another window to the immediate right of the round console table which is the same size as the window on the left. The space between this side of the bed and the wardrobe is almost but not quite the size of a double mattress.

    Various thoughts include -
    - The current tenant says that the mirror position is perfect because it gets the light but not directly. I'm not sure how much this matters, the indoor light is very good anyway, but the idea is stuck in my head now!
    - I could turn the bed around and have it back onto the fireplace theoretically which would leave a little more room at the end of it - possibly for a trunk or something to put a tv on...this would cover the fireplace though and I'm not sure the bed is narrow enough not to encroach on the spaces either side!
    - None of the current furniture apart from the bed is staying.

Any thoughts on interesting/space-saving types of furniture, layouts or random suggestions are very very welcome!

    Thank you in advance!
    Sorcha :)

Hi Sorcha, welcome to GardenStew. Well I don't see any other position for the bed other than the two that you have mentioned. If you don't use the fireplace as a feature then it's pretty much dead space. Moving the back of the bed to there wouldn't be bad. The trunk idea at the foot of the bed sounds great although I bet the back of the TV would look slightly ugly upon entering the room.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Too bad you have to keep the bed

It's too bad you want to keep the bed. My first inclination is to get a smaller one if you can. That would be most helpful to you right now.
