I turned on my sprinkler on the pond-garden yesterday evening, around 6ish. And got busy with running errands and such. Went out to tend to the bunnies an hour ago and it was still on! Groan! But the water in the pond hasn't looked so clean and sparkly all summer, so hopefully the fish will appreciate it. 2 blooms popping up on the lily too, not open yet, but I guess that means the little pond liked it too.
I am SO glad we've had such a non-drought summer

I have done that sort of thing a few times. Turn on the sprinklers out back then hours later wonder why I hear water running somewhere.

Yes, we've left them running all night before and would get up to a lake.

I think we've all done something similar in our time - well I know I have anyway!! Ian went out to clean the pond a while back and I forgot he was out there and turned the fountain on. He wasn't too pleased I can tell you but I couldn't help laughing when he came in dripping from head to toe. :D :D

Just the other day I put up a sprinkler at work and went to work in a different garden. The next morning I noticed a puddle where there is never a puddle but continued on with what I was doing. A few hours later I found the sprinkler that I'd left on for over 24 hours. Oops!

I've been guilty of the same thing but what makes me mad at myself the most is walking all the way around the house to get something and then discover I forgot what I went after. :?:  :'( Then get all the way back and remember what it was I had forgot. :smt013 :headscratch:

I put the hose in the tub we kept filled for the geese and forgot it. In the middle of the night I heard such a commotion. I looked out and we had a huge lake and the geese were splashing and chasing each other. What a grand time they were having. I went out and turned off the water. They had enough water to last them several days though I had to fill their tub they liked playing in the mud. The tub was just for splashing. They had raised tubs for drinking. dooley

:D I've left the sprinkler on. I keep forgetting what I was going to fetch. I forgot to lock the back door, and when Lord opened it , the alarm went off. My husband and the chap from Security were not pleased.

Heh... I started to read this thread and then went "Oh my goodness! I forgot I have the sprinkler going on the garden!" and ran out the door.

It's probably best that I don't have a sprinkler for that reason. I've been accused of "going senile" since the age of about 16. Grandpa says I make him feel better being forgetful. Like, can't find your sunglasses while you're wearing them forgetful! We have about 4 giant dry-erase boards in the most conspicuous locations, without whom I'd be lost in my own apartment.

I get in trouble with hubby all the time for leaving the water on. Our water bill is outrageous.

I didn't do this but it was funny when it happened. I used to work at the truckstop here and one day there was water coming from under the door of the bathroom in the restraunt(yucky, I know) I opened the door and it was coming from the light fixture in the ceiling. After the maintenance men crawled through the ceiling with a panic attack and management was having a coronary, someone went upstairs where the offices were and some lady was watering the plants in the shower and forgot about them * she had gone home for the day). It flooded almost the entire place when all the water settled lol.

We have had the hose on and in the quiet of the night I suddenly wake up to hear running water and send hubby out to turn the taps off. Of course it is his fault, never mine. :)
