Hi, a friend is working in Northern NSW (Australia) where this fruit tree is growing. He said the fruit tastes similar to a plum, both sweet and sourish, with dark red flesh. The one in the photo had two seeds and the fruit grows directly on the trunk, similar to a japoticaba I guess. Any ideas?[IMG][/url]

    Perhaps Davidson's Plums (Davidsonia Pruriens).

Thanks Jerry, I think you're probably right. I didn't see the tree for myself, but will check if the fruit grows on a long stem, on the trunk.
