My trail to grow Pomegranate from seeds. I soaked the seeds in water for 24h then put the seeds on newspaper inside a locked plastic container after wetting the newspaper. After 10 days I got about ten seeds (out of about 30) sprouting. Here are some photos [October 12 2016]:
Very interesting, you have the right climate for it. I hope you post pictures of your progress. Jerry
As I have never seen a pomegranate tree, to actually see a seedling is interesting. Hmmmm, maybe the next time I buy a pomegranate I won't eat all the seeds. Jerry
I'd LOVE to be able to grow pomegranates. They're my #1 most favourite fruit. Could eat a full one every day (if I could get them).
You are having such good success with your pomegranate. I can share your enthusiasm because when I lived in Granada, Spain...I took seeds from a pomegranate there and germinated them too. I took the seedlings back home and was able to get one decent plant which I had to grow on in the greenhouse (because of the climate). When it got too big, it had to be removed...and perished. It was sad but successful. I like the blooms. Well done, you.
I did the same with store bought. My tree is now close to two years old and over 4 feet tall. It is planted in my yard. I am hoping that it continues to do well so I can get some fruits!
I'd LOVE to get a pomegranate tree and I'd be over the moon if it actually produced pomegranate for me.
So You may grow the seeds from grocery store fruit but sometimes they won't flower...Has anyone ever flowered grown from seeds from a grocery store? I am going to do it...
