I just can't seem to grow any color of peppers. My 4 plants that I bought from a local green house look a pale green with a yellowish cast. They have been in the ground for at least 6 wks. I have put milorganite on them. Composted horse poop, water and words of encouragement. But it doesn't seem to help at all. They have finally got one set of new leaves. But they still look sad. Help!

I kill peppers , seems like the minute I look at them they begin to wilt.. I have tried them in pots, in the ground with all kinds of food even match sticks for sulfur.. nothing they all wind up as dead as a doornail. I hope someone can help you out, I sure can't!

Glad someone else has problems with pepper plants also. We have even tried raising them from seed. With no better results. Thanks for sharing that. :-D

Have you checked the Ph of your soil and/or water? Is the manure composted for a year? Yellow is indicative of a lack of iron which is usually related to Ph.
My peppers seemed to be really slow in starting this year, but once they started they grew very well. I have several different patches and the first was pond muck that we had never planted in before. they seemed to be the slowest to take off. they had aphids all over them nor were they doing anything. no growth no flower buds. I think the amount of sunshine had an effect on them, as we had NO sunshine until the end of may. The first of June we began fertilizing with a commercial fertilizer 11-41-8 and they seemed to really take off. So we have been alternating with fish emulsion, 20-20-20 and the 11-41-8 and the growth had been phenomenal. nor are there anymore aphids. which was driving me crazy. I had sprayed soapy water, soapy water with alcohol and soapy water with veg. oil and rubbing alcohol before they went away.

Hi Carolyn: we will have to check the soils ph. I do have a kit to do that. The horse manure is about 8 months old only. We will have to pick up some fish fertilizer. As I hear it is so good to us. We like to stay as natural as possible. Sounds like you do to. Thanks for the great info. P :stew2:

The Ph should be checked to ensure its not the soil thats causing the problem tooty. Im in the UK and my peppers are doing pretty well so far but last year for no aopparent reason it was dreadful!

Thank you GM. We havent yet checked the PH. As soon as it stops raining we will have to do that. We added some blood meal recently to amend the soil. But we do need to check on the ph. :stew1:
