Yesterday while I was at work, our dog Macy ruptured a disk in her middle back adn her hind legs are paralyzed. Mom took her to the vet, but the surgery would be $3000 and neither of us can come close to affording that. The vet gave us some pain and anti-inflammatory meds for her, but if they dont work, the only thing we can do is put her down :'(

What an expensive operation! I really hope that with rest and the medication the vet prescribed that Macy will soon have the power back in her legs and be feeling much better. Keep us updated on her progress won't you?

I hope the meds work for Macy.
Is there any way your vet (or perhaps another vet)
could work something out? Monthly payments or perhaps a rescue group could help?
    Hope she feels better.

So sorry to hear about your pup. Our neighbor's lab somehow developed a bulging disc and received the same news from their vet. I don't think that spinal injuries are very common in dogs, at least you don't hear of them much. Best of luck to your pooch and give 'em a hug from all of us.

It sure tears your heart out when a loved family pet has such a terrible accident. Having lost our much loved dog, Deputy, I can sure feel for you. Trust in your mutual love, be strong, and may all your decisions be what is best for Macy.

I dont think the meds are working. She whimpers and shivers and pants hard all the time.
No one in this house except me seems to care that shes peeing and pooping all over herself. Im teh only one who cleans her up! I cant believe how selfish my family is. I just told my mother something needs to be done and she told me to tell my sisters about it...they dont care! Just yesterday I came home from work and asked where she was and Sam said she was "probably outside, I dont know". They are some of the most selfish people I know. I want to help but I dont have the money...and I dont know of any rescue groups or anything...

Call a local Veterinary clinic, they will know of rescue groups for you to contact.
