yes that is powdery mildew. this is normal and I suppose you could clip off that leaf and spray the rest of the plant but you need to spray preventatively and not curatively for this plant before you see the white spots. it is normal to see such a thing on this plant.
Oh my.. I haven't heard anything good bout that stuff. Do the natuena remedies actually work? Baking soda vinigar and water?
I don't really know. I have never sprayed my phlox to see what works. I am not sure about using vinegar... not one that I have heard of. I would be afraid of killing the plant. baking soda yes I have heard of milk also being used for powdery mildew but not vinegar.
Last year, I used a mild solution (1 part milk, 2 parts water) on my phlox with good result. You have to use it preventatively, before the mildew appears. This year I missed the window 'David' tends to be mildew resistant. It is an attractive white phlox.
Well I read these posts after I went ahead and sprayed the infected leaves. It worked!!! The spots went and there was no further damage. Now I have Japanese Beatles to deal with. They're beating up my green beans.
