My oldest daughter, Lisa, just called. She is on her way to the hospital to say goodbye to her Dad (my ex). They made peace with each other several years ago and have had a workable relationship since then but as you can imagine, this is very hard on her right now. He is 65 which is much older than doctors ever expected, he was born with a very serious congenital heart defect.....Interventricular septal defect with a transposition of the great vessels. Corrective surgery about 8 years ago gave him more time but he had a massive heart attack a few days ago and his body is just not able to recover.
Big hugs for your daughter, and you. This must be a very emotional and difficult time for the whole family. You will all be in my prayers.
Our prayers and thoughts are with your daughter and her family at this difficult time in her life. Death is never easy on anyone's family. dooley
Thanks everyone. I know she can use all the hugs, prayers and good thoughts she can get. I haven't heard anything from her since that first call so I don't know if they are waiting or if it is over and they just sitting together. He donated his body to a medical school, in Ohio I think the one where his surgery was done years ago, so they can research his heart possibly find out what caused the defect and definitely find out how he managed to live this long.
Toni, so sorry for Lisa and you. I know this is a terrible time for her.Hugs and prayers to Lisa. And even though an 'ex', I know personally I would be devastated. Happily for them them made peace. My son and his dad are so far apart that I don't see that reunion ever happening. Even my son's grandfathers funeral 3 months ago didn't do it. :'(
