I volunteered to help out with the plant sale for the church's bazaar this year. Mrs. E has been doing the plants for years. Last year they didn't look so great and she couldn't remember some of the plants names. She's still a pretty sharp cookie... so maybe she just wasn't feeling well last year? Anyhow...I asked if it would be okay if I contributed some plants to the sale. She said yes, she'd welcome the help. So I've got about 20 plants potted up and ready to go. I also printed out an info sheet with the plant's botanical name, common name and growing particulars and photos. I want to do the same with Mrs. E's plants. So with the event just three weekends away, I've been trying to catch up with her to see if she knows what plants she'll be bringing so I can print the info sheets for them. So... I go by her house. My first thought was, "no wonder her plants didn't look good. the grass and weeds were taking over. Poor thing, just can't keep up anymore. Sad." So I go by again... still no one at home. So I contact her son and ask what's the best day and time to catch her at home. He says, any day after 5pm. I told him I'd gone by a few times and no one was home. He said "You went to the old house? I stay there... she moved a few years ago across the highway." My first thought was "Whew! There's a chance for some more nice plants from her". Second thought "Boy, you need to mow your darn grass and get out the weedeater!" So I go by her house today. BEAUTIFUL!!! Lovely plants all over. And lots of them! She's going to have to really nice things this year. I already spotted about 3 things I want to buy! She liked the info sheet idea. And will get me her list on Sunday afternoon. Then I can REALLY pick out which one's I want. And since she is needed indoors to help with the money, etc. I am now in charge of the entire Silent Auction/Plant Auction. I'm thrilled about it... I'd rather be outdoors hanging out with the plants than stuck in the kitchen serving food!
I also took plants to our church auction in the past. Took lot of pictures. Friend made labels with the pictures. They went high---good luck
