Spring has sprung for certain: Spring! ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) And we've got more blooms too. I can't remember who wanted to see P. "Miss Indigo" fully opened, but here she is: Primula "Miss Indigo" ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) This tiny beauty is blooming properly for the first time since we got it. The bloom stem's 15 cm / 6 inches tall so the blooms are huge for the plant's size: Epimedium grandiflorum "Lilafee" ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Our earliest paeonia has one bloom: Paeonia obovata ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Due to the warm weather during the last four days the Arisaema have exploded: Arisaema amurense ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Arisaema triphyllum ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Our Japanese woodland primula are blooming too: Primula sieboldii ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Primula sieboldii ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Primula sieboldii ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) My husband's tulips: Tulips ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) This little one bloomed last year but looks even better this year: Cortusa matthioli ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) And our water feature is still only half-finished. The tap's hanging in there: ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Best get back out there and remove some dandelion heads. Dandelion wine's very nice and my husband needs a lot of flowers to make it.
Droopy, those plants and blooms are amazing. the color on that miss indigo is stunning! I have never sen a peony like that one, either. Wow....is all I can say yo all of those pics. Thanks for the eye candy!
Thanks Theodoros. They like our cold, wet climate. Carolyn, you're very welcome. The peony is a species. What I really like about it is the dark foliage.
Don't you just love spring Great selection of photos Droopy. And of course lambs always get my attention.
Thanks all for liking my photos. Jerry, the Arisaema's got a lid on top to prevent it from collecting water, so no drowned insects, at least not on purpose. Calin, the peony's got reddish-green leaves. The camera cheated a bit on the colour.
I can't wait either but husband's so busy these days I'll be lucky to see it finished before the summer holidays. This year.
Droopy, Great show! I love your tongue in cheek humor about the water feature! So do you have the name of the peony that everyone is admiring? I love plants that serve double duty: blooms and interesting foliage.
It was ME Droopy, and Miss Indigo didn't disappoint ... what a beauty!! You have some gorgeous blooms there
What a super posting this time, Droopy. I just gazed and gazed at those lovely blooms of yours. I liked the spigot foto as well. heh heh heh Your man's tulips turned out well, didn't they? The Epimedium grandiflorum "Lilafee" looks splendid. Could you take a foto of how it looks from under looking up into the bloom itself? The Arisaema's are really doing quite well. Mine are just about bloomed-out now. There were more flowers than ever. I had worried about the very cold winter this year, but they did just fine.
Thanks, Netty, sorry I forgot that it was you who asked. It's name is underneath the photo, it's Paeonia obovata. At least that's what I was told when I got it. It's a species and seems very hardy too. The leaves are very dark in spring/early summer, but they will get greener as the season moves on. I always leave the seed pods on since they're bright red inside, and the seeds are shiny black. They're like a second blooming, and I think they're a bonus. I haven't managed to germinate it though. Maybe because I'm really bad at sowing. I can always try, but it's a very small plant and it's in a very awkward place for me to crawl about. No promises though. I'm glad your Arisaema did well. Ours have survived both very heavy snow and lots of barefrost, so they must be pretty hardy.
