We like to watch Penn & Teller, two magicians who have a TV show that features new or unknown in the USA magicians. They are kind in their comments, and try to figure out how the trick is done. Penn is an old "carny" (carnival guy) and Teller a retired history teacher. They teamed up and now have their own theater and show in Las Vegas. It is really hard to fool them! We also like Jeopardy, especially when the topics are something we know about (science and technology for husband, language and history for me). Blalik as hostess gets on our last nerves, but Ken Jennings is delightful. We are skipping the College Jeopardy because Blalik is hosting. Other than the PBS Newshour, those are about all we watch.
Well, I like the “ ‘watches”, the series—“The Tourist”, we watch consumer programmes, we are following a Dutch series called, “In The Wake Of The Mayflower”(very interesting), a series about the history of the Netherlands (beginning 5,000 years BC ago) and An art programme whereby an artist re-paints a painting by a famous artist. But before she begins to paint there is all sorts of investigations carried out. Investigations on the canvas, paint sorts and layers thereof. They then make paint out of the same materials that the old masters used. I find these shows enormously interesting. This season instead of doing a different painting each week, they are spending every show on reproducing “the night watch” . What a huge undertaking this is. Loggie—I cannot view your video.
Sjeord sorry about the video, it works for me, it could be a regional thing, if you go onto YouTube you'll be able to see it. We've been thinking of watching The Tourist but haven't got round to it.
I find there's fewer programmes on TV worth watching these days. I do watch a lot of sport, like a few hours of the Australian Open Tennis I recorded and presently some of the Winter Olympics. There's so much "hype" churned out about new drama series and when they start, they never live up to expectations. Mostly, the plots are old hat and the main characters often aren't likeable. Much of the action is in dimly lit and unpleasant surroundings with over-loud background music to make up for the lack of any real drama. "The Responder" irritated me enough in the first episode. I don't find main character's "mental health issues," a subject I want to see in a drama. It's not even an original concept. Fortunately, I've a lot of films and music concerts stored on a couple of hard drives, so I can always dig one of them out, or listen to the radio or play my leccy piano. I am watching (again) "The Good Wife" on Alibi on week-day nights. The legal shenanigans are a bit far fetched, but entertaining. I just wish Juliana Margulies would keep her firm's investigator out of her bed, as it's getting boring.
Yes, I can see that one. The Tourist is a different sort of show. My favourite character was the fresh-out-of-school police traffic constable woman. Good luck with it.
That's great and thanks, I think that it's the producers or something that block them from certain countries, it happens with the music vids.
In the place of that first vid, It says that it has not been made available in my country. Ach, sometimes the peanuts, sometimes the shells. But thanks anyhow.
Your welcome Sjeord just a thought, can you get Amazon Prime video? If you can't that might be why you can't watch it, sorry.
Thank you so much for this Loggie. It is always a small hassle trying to discover when GW and the ‘watches air. I have finally programmed my telly to automatically tape them. This back up info of yours will ensure that I do not miss the beginning. Cheers mate.
