We've had the most unusual weather here of late with vast swings in temperature and moisture. Therer hasn't really been alot to do but weed 'n wait. Well, whilst I was waiting, I took some fotos of developments in the flower and veggie gardens...inbetween bouts of weeding. An overview of the new production garden from the main footpath. What you are seeing are beans, sweet corn, beets and swiss chard and taters there in the far distance. Looking back from the far end now--you can just see the little corn plants that we have just planted so that we can extend our eating period. You can also see what the moles did to the Swiss chard. Runner beans just getting started. They make a good chance if I can keep the slugs and snails off the leaves. I am thrilled that the toms have started blooming. You may recall that I posted piccies of the lettuce that I planted at the base and also behind the tomato plants, Well the growth is so lush that I has to remove them all. This trug full is the result. Very heavy to lift. Strawbs and capucijners...with climbing courgetts barely visible in the distance. Strawbs and two sorts of carrots.
That's a lot of progress, everything is so lush and green. Looks like you will be eating strawberries and cream soon.
Wow, that all looks so wonderful!! I'm envious of your toms and lettuce. Mine are still in the very young stage. Your strawberries are looking mighty tempting there Sjoerd. It all looks so healthy. Well done!
WOW! you are way ahead of us here in Mich. Here they say the farmers do good if corn is up knee high by the 4th of July. By the looks of it, you'll be plenty past that point. Your toms are looking great. I'm lucky if mine are about 3-4 inches high. And I am jealous of your strawberries you'll be enjoying much before ours. mine are just getting the berries on them. I have to say, I think I must be one of the luckier ones though-from what I've heard around my area, people who had their gardens in early, lost everything due to the heavy frost we've been having. I've had mine in the greenhouse, so now everything is ready to be planted. I have a few days off this week so hopefully we can get a start on the garden. Your garden is looking fabulous, keep up the good work.

You are way ahead of me Sjoerd here in Essex. My strawbs are crying out for some sunshine to redden them up. It has been so overcast now for so long - wish the weather would make it's mind up! Now I have some beans that I think came from you via Alishka on A4all a few years back, I can't think what they are called, dumb blonde....anyhow, I should do a wigwam of them in your honour.
Oh my what a wonderful sight your photographs are. Such a difference in your veggie garden Sjoerd!! I think I'll have to fight Droopy for those luscious stawberries. I can just imagine them drenched in cold, fresh cream - YUMMY!!! I can hardly believe that around this time last year all you had were invasive weeds in your 2nd allotment. Well done to you and you partner for all the hard work you've put into those crops.
Thanks kind folks, for your nice and encouraging words. Well if we don't get some sun and dry warmth, I don't know how many strawberries will make it to the table. The water is just what's needed, but we also need some sun. It's pouring rain here as I speak. Let's hope that clears off by morning.
