Probably too late in the season (mid-summer), but I am trying to propagate some of my oregano from cuttings. Just put them in today, so we will see.
Over here there is a white colored powder available in a small medicine kind of a container. It's called rooting hormone. We are told to dunk the cuttings in that, before placing them in soil... Works for a wide range of plant types. If such a thing is available in your area also, (how could it not be). Then I think using that will give better results.
Thanks, S-H, yes, I dipped them in rooting hormone. It is just kind of late in the season to try rooting them, so I am hoping they take.
I don't know your geographical location. So don't really know what kind of weather conditions you have. But as long as you don't get freezing temperatures immediately - I am sure some of those cuttings will start to grow. Specially when you applied rooting hormone to them as well. By the way, there are now indoor plants starter kids available almost everywhere online. Basically just seed trays with powerfu LEDl growing lights, which you can put anywhere inside. So if you buy one of those, then you should be able to propagate plants in the off season also.
My concern is more in the shape of the cuttings. It is hard to find new growth this time of year (mid-summer in California), so the stalks are woodier than I would like. I have a "magic window" (aka a kitchen garden window) that works for me all winter. There is very little that doesn't sprout or root in there! I hope to be able to get some LED lights for my garage, down the road, because I would like to be able to grow all year round, but that is a project for another day!
A while back I started a thread here, where I accumulated all the information about growing plants under artificial lights. So lots of useful ideas shared in it, (see link below). https://www.gardenstew.com/threads/growing-plants-under-artificial-lights.41836/
