I was out in the yard yesterday trying to enjoy what may be the last sunny, warm day of the year.
As I stepped out the door, I looked into the pond and chuckled...

Despite the weird, wet, windy weather (say THAT 10 times fast! LOL) there are still a few things blooming in the yard.
    Scabiosa
    [IMG]
    Zinnia
    [IMG]
I had given up on this Nigella "African Bride" seed
    [IMG]
I hope these Rose buds are able to open
    [IMG]
Try telling this Alchemilla that it's an early summer bloomer!
    Salvia and Marigolds still blooming
    [IMG]
This Aconitum is actually a little early this year
    [IMG]
This Feverfew has been blooming all year!
    Rudbeckia Triloba
    [IMG]
FINALLY a Dahlia bloom! I was ready to give up hope.
I pulled a couple of carrots too. How sweet they were!
This cabbage will eventually be part of Christmas dinner

Netty I'm always glad to see a Member's Gallery posting from you -- you do such a good job photographing your pretties. The Autumn light seems a little different from the summer in these, esp in the zinnia shots. Or maybe I'm sharing your feelings about end of summer? The frog pic is great too. I guess they were enjoying the last warm days too.

Great color you still have. Some of those I haven't seen blooms from in my yard since very early June.

We may have 'warmth' in summer but you have a blooming season that is at least twice as longs as ours because of that summer 'warmth'

That frog photo brought a big grin to my face. :D Your colours are delightful, and you're so lucky to have such vibrant colours in your yard still.

Ha Eileen, I didn't realize that one of the frogs was not real. How funny. I had to look at it again.

    Just lookit tha'! :)
Good grief, Netty--you've got all kinds of colour going there. Sometimes the last flowers are the prettiest.
Songül is a typical name for a Turkish baby girl, for instance.
That lovely Scabiosa is looking so nice and healthy.
I was reaslly surprised to leasrn that Aconitum was early at this time of year there. Mine have gone to bed and are fast asleep now. :)
Your two veg shots are picture-perfect. I especially liked the looks of those carrots. :p

    Nice going, Netty.

Sjoerd, this particular Aconitum is usually the last thing to bloom in the garden. Some years it is still blooming when the snow falls in early November.

As good as your flowers are looking it would seem you've had no frost there yet. If I did have anything its certianly not around now. I seen lite wet snow falling from the sky on Saturday. They say we have more coming. Certainly not looking forward to it. I still could do more yard work-clean around the pond, have more bulbs yet to plant, etc...
