Every year I've wanted to put lights on the Weeping Cypress trees that border my front porch. Usually this results in frustration as the lights slide off the branches. This year I read a tip to use wired Christmas ribbon to tie them on. Perfect solution! I bought several inexpensive rolls, cut them to about 8 - 12 inch lengths, and tied the lights on every couple of feet. The added bonus, the lights shine through the ribbon, reflecting on the glitter, and the whole tree looks much more luminous. 8) Problem solved!

I'm so glad you found a solution to the problem and that you're really pleased with the results Kathy. Any chance of a photograph of your trees when they're all lit up? :-D

I took one photo of the bow in dusky light, the rest are taken when it was fairly dark.

The Butterflies also glow...they are finds at the dollar store.

The bow, only a short length of ribbon tied only once. I don't want to spend hours untying them in the freezing weather. The photo is a bit blurry, but it shows how the glitter on the bow reflects the light.

My pretty trees...all dolled up for Christmas.

Now to start looking for something to put in those empty pots without disturbing the tulip bulbs planted about six inches down.

Oh very pretty. You could possibly get some light up candy canes and stick them in your pots? That would look so cute next to the trees. What a neat idea for keeping the light on your trees. :-D

:-D Thanks all for the nice comments. I added some big ribbons and lights to the door and the handrails...still haven't come up with anything for the pots...I am thinking of lit sticks...I've seen some, but they are expensive and look a bit fragile. I might just carry the pots into the backyard now that the handrails are lit.

    Great solution Kathy.
Did you decide to decorate the pots or just move them?
I can envision them with red ribbons & bow. Plus topped with fake poinsettia.
