Quail by pond.

    Went to a local duck pond to see if the wood ducks were still there. There were a few woodies about, but this quail proved more of a favorite as I have a lot of wood duck images.

    Well you know Eileen, the males have to attract the female. Over here, only the female Kingfisher is prettier than the male.

    I love Quail of any variety. Several years ago our neighbors had a wild Quail that would follow you around their hiking trails. If you stopped it would come up to you making funny little clucking noises. It actually would fly up on you and sit there for a short time. :-D We were told that it was a male and his behavior was a terrirorial display. Whatever it was is was so much fun faving him walk along with you. He didn't even mind our little dog being there.
    Then 2 years ago the neighbors when to check up on him during the winter and found a pile of feathers and no bird. :'( They figured a fox must have gotten him. To bad as it was a really neat treat to have a wild animal interact with you the way that Quail did. :stew1:
