Yeah yeah I know Im the Rose Queen but even queens need help! LOL My Climbing Golden Glow is growing so tall. About three weeks ago, I decided to pitch the head off the tallest stem growing to try and stop it from grow so tall and hoping it would bush out some and maybe even flower. I went out to look this morning, around the yard and happened to notice the Golden Glow. >clears throat< Where I pitched the new stem and growth off the end of the stem.... theres two growing now. TWO seprate stems..... How can I get the thing to stop growing so tall and be more bushy? At least for now until the rest of the bush catches up??
I'm not an expert on roses, but I do grow quite a number of them. It sounds like you might have to go further back to the ground and find a stem that you can cut back almost to start over and get two runners from it. Hopefully you have more than one stem going up so you can do this, that should start the fullness you want closer to the base. I'm not an expert, but that's what I would do.
Just sticking my nose in lol. Cut one and get two, that's why for the first time (2 years) I just cut my rose bush. It looked spindly. It will take a while tell I get more but will be well worth it.
