The White Truffle (Tuber magnum pico) is the world's most expensive edible fungus, fetching up to $3,000 per kilo. They can only be found in the Italian regions of Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Marches, and the Istrian peninsula of Croatia, and because they grow about a foot underground, they can only be located with the help of trained dogs.

Quietly snoozing in a forest of oak trees in Italy the worlds most expensive fungi grows waiting for some nosey pig or dog to disturb its slumber. Of course some moneybags outbids the competition with an exorbitant amount maintaining the Italian White Alba truffle "Alba Madonna" (Tuber magnum) the worlds most expensive fungi. Maybe I will outbid him next year!! :)
