The last 2 mornings my hummingbird feeder has been empty. And I know the hummers aren't eating a cup of juice in 8 hrs. Especially at night! I had it mounted on a shepherds crook. So this morning I went out and looked at the pole and there were mud tracks on it where they had climbed up the pole and shook it to empty the feeder.

Now I have a brace pole mounted on a tree with a fence barrier between the feeder and the tree. The fence has sharp prongs all the way around it. If this dosen't work, then I go with an electrc fence barrier. The feeder looks like it is in the middle of an armed camp.
It seems like I spend all my time fighting the damned coons, and they are winning!

Gosh I thought our squirrels were bad. I hope the new barriers stop those pesky racoons from robbing the hummers feeder again. Do let us know if you win your battle with them won't you?

Last week I had a woodpecker feeding block hanging from a tree branch. It was 7 feet off the ground. It lasted 2 days before the coons found it and got it down and ate the nuts and sunflower seeds and honey. The wood peckers didn't even have a chance to check it out!

Hope you solve your racoon problem Capt. We have an armadillo problem, they are digging up my daylilies. We can't use traps. all we would catch is cats, and I hate to shoot them, but at this point I have not other choice.
