It a very rainy day today. I have this feeder under the eaves so it is very close to the window also. The birds don't mind me watching them so I take some pictures. I don't like showing the feeders but thought this was neat with the flicker on the log.

If you wouldn't have mentioned that it was a feeder... I would have thought it was just a branch.
    Nice shot!

I try to make a lot of feeders like that. Some are over three feet long.

The feeder obviously has the approval of the Flicker. It looks as though he's found the perfect place to feed and keep himself dry too. Another excellent shot. :-D

I do put a little roof on the log to help keep the birds dry.

How is that feeder designed? It looks like there's one small hole for the bird to peck at the food, which doesn't seem right.

Hi Ronni. I have a few of these feeders, all have more than one hole for the suet mix. This one was for the smaller birds, chickadees and nuthatches, but I don't mind others. I have added some pics to show the different ones in use. I find the logs in the wood, drill a few holes and hang them up.

Well doh!! Of course there's suet in there! Here I was scratching my head in perplexity, trying to figure out how you kept the bird seed in there, and/or how those birds could possibly get to the seed once it dropped below the level of the hole. I'm such an idiot! :).
