Rarer than rare.

    This bird is the only one ever seen on Vancouver Island. People came over from the mainland to see with the cost of the ferry rides etc. It is only the second ever in British Columbia. Field Sparrow.

    I'd like to think that this little bird is the first of many that will find their way Vancouver and British Columbia. I would love you to tell us, in the future, that there are breeding pairs in both places.

    Very interesting.

    I've been waiting for the swans to appear this winter in the marsh behind my house but so far nada.

    I was lucky to see this bird in the grass. I asked some photographers what they were looking at. It was just a few feet away but hard to see in the brown grass etc. They got rid of the swans (23) as they are not native birds, and don't get protection. They had been here for over 40 years.
