can anyone help with my Mums raspberries, she planted these this spring and they were doing well and have lots of fruit on but the leaves have started browning at the edges and going crispy. She put manure in the ground ( dried bagged) when she planted them. I suggested wind burn as the further up the canes you go the worse it is. she has some in a big wooden pot treated the same but in a different position that are fine. There are no obvious signs of bugs on them. Thanks in advance for any help you can give us. Browning along the edges of raspberry leaves can be caused by several things playtime. It's quite difficult to distinguish between causes based on symptoms alone. Some types are sensitive to herbicides, excessive fertilizer, nutrient deficiency (Potassium deficiency can cause marginal burning in particular) or drought. Raspberry leaves may begin to die from drought, but recover upon watering, leaving the edges of leaves brown. Browning of leaves can also be the first signs exhibited by a dying cane or lateral. I hope you find the cause of the browning of the leaves on your mums canes soon.
