Now that all the snow has finally melted and the soggy and unworkable ground is again exposed I can now safely dream of the coming spring. Like some of you, I use old piccies to boost my morale and generate hope by seeing what was and shall be again. It's a psychological game, but it works for me.

This 'need' for colour and spring was prompted by the arrival of the first lot of seeds from T&M this morning.
I shall begin planting marigolds and sweetpeas tomorrow.

One of the true signs of spring here are sheep during the lambing time which has already begun here.
This one is atop a dike.

Anemones are some of the first flowers to bloom.

Pulsatilla is another early one here We call it "Wildemanskruid" here.

Bees and butterflies are also welcome sights in the spring.

I believe that english-speakers call this one "Painted Lady", right?

Blow-in poppies are always a welcome sight wherever they 'pop'-up.

I am already dreaming of veg as well.

Of course what I am waiting for is a full-blown display of colour in the summer.

Ahhhhh...that feels better now. It's sort of like re-charging my gardening battery, as it were.

I can't wait until the full blown display of summer either Sjoerd. We haven't had a snowy winter and everything here has just looked BLAH this winter. I definitely needed some color - Thanks!

I think I am finally getting tired of the drabness that has been winter around here too. If it isn't going to snow here then I want spring with the colors.

You are right Sjoerd, that is a Painted Lady Butterfly.
The photo of the Ewe is really pretty as are the flower photos. And the last garden scene photo is gorgeous. Is that a Mirabilis on the left in that last photo?

Pretty photos! Thanks for sharing them, it brightens my snowy day :)
The color we have at this point is the blue and red of the snow shovels :(

Oh dear, NETTY-- it sounds like you really do need some colour. Fingers crossed that your weather will improve there.

Thanks TONI--I thought it was, but wasn't sure. I don't think about the butterflies if it isn't summer--then I can look up the names again. hahaha.
You are right--the red-ish coloured flowers are indeed Mirabilis. What a fragreance!
I have a real weakness for those, I grow them every year.

Thank you, Kay-- Ahhh...sorry to hear about your colour shortage. Things are drastic when it's heavy equipment that gives one colour in the winter, isn't it?

Thank you so much, 4-G. Yes they are dramatic. It was a perfect day to photograph them and be out at the edge of the Zuider Zee.

Thanks DAISY for reading the posting. I fear that I have thrown all the lamb fotos away...but I will look and see this evening. Oh darn, so sorry.

Wonderful photos...you surely have brightened up my day. It has been grey and rainy here for a week. :'( The ground is just saturated. I am soooo ready for spring but right now I would settle for some sunshine. :stew2:

I particularly like the last photo with its beautiful colors and composition.

Those photos did help Sjoerd. I know my parents are very much into the lambing season, so spring is upon them. A lot of us however still have white landscapes

What a feast for the eyes your photographs are Sjoerd. It really makes me want spring to arrive here and able to see all my flowers beginning to show themselves in the garden again. I love the photograph of your anemones - it really made me smile!! :-D

Thanks BUNKIE, I am glad that they made you feel a bit better. There are so many folks that are anxious for the spring to begin...or simply just to have some sun.

Thank you so much, GAIL-- it is so nice of you to comment favourably on the re-charge fotos.

I am glad to hear that the fotos helped, FRANK. I guess that your folks have their hands full about now. Once those lambs start popping out it can go on madly for a while, can't it?

Thanks to you too, EILEEN :-D
What a nice thing to say. I shall go to the lotties tomorrow for sure and see if there are any signs of spring anywhere about. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Those anemones really are bright and cheerful, aren't they?

Lovely photos! *drooling* Lambing starts in April up here, and I'm certainly looking forward to that. I'm also looking forward to colour. Any colour, as long as it's not white, bluish or grey.
