Got these baskets from my boss when she was getting rid of stuff. I originally thought of turning both into bird feeders... only the one with pine cones fulfilled that vision. The black birds descended on it right away and then later on some red birds and little chichi's were there too. (They don't let me get close enough for photos). But here it is all filled up and waiting on "customers". What great ways to use those baskets. The birds obviously appreciate the new feeder and the cuttings should do well in the white one. :-D
They are very nice. I really think using the baskets for the birds is a very good idea. I have an attic full of them. All sized and shapes. I plan on pulling them down and using them this "last half of Winter". Barb in Pa.
baskets Nice feeder with the pine cones. I fear this "last half" of winter may be the worst half for us (Z6b TN). We have had some cold nights, a few flurries and that's about all so far.
Great ideas for those baskets. I see the pine cone type baskets frequently at thrift stores and until now didn't have any ideas on how to use them. I love the idea of an 'Ice Plant' being planted in a white basket...get it? I have about 4 large baskets I am saving to plant in last summer, then I thought about this summer but I may have to wait at least another year before that idea will work very well.
I am always looking for new ideas for my bird feeders and your pine cone basket is ideal, really attractive.
Well thought out! I've got old baskets and cones galore, and might just try my hand at decorating a basket with cones and turn it into a bird feeder. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks everyone... the birds seem to like it too! Toni... I didn't think about "ice" and white basket. You're just too clever! :-D
