I've been surprised neighbours appear to like the roses in the garden as much, so have decided to eventually add more at the side of the house, but this time shades of blue, as they aren't often seen, and might be a good talking point.

I do have several rose catalogues, but are there any good blue rose varieties you'd recommend ?

Youll be hard pressed to find "true" blue rose as researchers havent nailed the blue yet. You can find "almost" blue roses.

The closest youll come to true blue roses is the Blue Moon rose. It has the best blue shade.

Blue Girl is an almost. Its a soft lilac

    Blueberry Hill very soft purple.

    Blue Nile soft lilac coloring.

    Midnight Blue deep purple.

    Neptune is lavender.

Trust me when I say, if there was a true blue or true black rose out there, I would have found them by now! Hope this helps. Let me know what you find!

I presonally really like the Blue Moon and the Midnight blue. Once I move I should talk my hubby into letting me having them! HAH!

Now in 1997, a company did breed a blue rose in Japan. It is the first to have the true blue hues BUT its not an all blue rose. Its more a cross between a silver and lilac but then light hits it, you def see the blue. Sadly, it isnt out yet. From what I can find, they have been unsucessful in growing it from cutting. SO, so far theres only one blue rose bush in the world that been breed by researchers. There are others out there but they are natures mutation and havent been able to grow the color from a cutting. BUT they are working on it!

Roses just dont have the genes to hold a true blue or true black rose ....yet! HAHA! They are in very high demand so its just a matter of time. Cant you start imagine the price of these roses if they can ever get them out to the general public??!! Well worth the price, Im sure! :D

I've had 2 Blue girls and both died .I
have no idea why. They bloomed and then started dying .I didn't have my green thumb(Pinkiered) then so now I think I'll buy another one next spring.Maybe with pinkiereds help and directons it will make it .I got so many rose cuttings from her roses today and if they do good I'm going to make a rose garden on one side of my yard and name it Pinkie's rose hide
    away.
