Being a gardener, of course I am into recycling. What do you think of my latest efforts??

I like 'em! You are a real whiz, do you know that.
Did you replace those Wellies with some outlandish, but chic ones? ...c'mon...tell the truth now. ;)

I hope Mark won't be needing those walking boots again!! :D
I love quirky planters and yours are great EJ.
A neighbour of mine used to put old boots and other miscellaneous objects out in his garden as homes for wildlife and one year he said a robin was nesting in an old hat. :-D

I am thinking I would like to hang a couple of old boots on the fence and check out how long it would take the neighbours to figure out what I was doing. :D

It looks good, EJ. You're very inventive.

Now I'll go look for some old boots.

Ooh Emma - I am so tickled here - I am showing this thread to my hubby and he is quite taken aback at the use of the hiking boots. :D (He introduced me to hiking you see - "and asked me to remarry on a hike")

Me on the other hand love the idea of putting it to use - aesthetic use. Those boots take up loads of space and is used only when hiking and when they are too old they just get chucked away.
Good luck with your experiment Droopy - If I dared to run such an experiment - it would be short lived as I am sure some needy person will salvage it within the hour.

Great ideas Emma. I noticed an old pair of walking boots with sedums planted in them when we went round Hyde Hall with you. I think they were in the Queen Mother's Garden. Must tell Don not to throw his walking boots away :D

    Great planter ideas EJ.
I especially like the way the hiking boots look on the fence post. Next time I am at a thrift store I have to look for a pair...now that I will have fencing to hang some on. ;)

Netty, it is Ajuga. I know it can't really stay in there, but it grows in my garden like a weed so I am using it as an annual.

Sjoerd, those were James wellies and they were replaced with Spider Man wellies. :)

The walking boots were my old work boots. They only lasted me about 18 months before finally splitting but I couldn't through them out. I did have another pair with steel toecaps, but they fell to bits very quickly. I know have a big old pair of leather rigger boots with steel toe caps and steel mid soul so hopefully they will last me a couple of years.

I am on the lookout in old skips for an old wheelbarrow for me to plant up with salads on the allotment. I am bound to find one eventually!
