I was quick to catch this liitle sweetie getting a bite. They come and go so fast, I had been sitting by the window watching and waiting :)

Well caught! :D Our nuthatches look a lot like yours, red markings and all, but there are differences.

We also have the white-breasted Nuthatch. They are bigger, and more vocal. I love the squeaky sound they make. Haven't been able to catch a photo of one though. I am very much an amateur at bird photography. Taking pictures of plants is so much easier :D

I agree with you Kay - plants are MUCH easier to take piccies of as they don't fly away just when you're about to take the perfect photograph of them. ;)
You did well to capture your nuthatch at the feeder. :-D We have similar looking birds here in the UK but, sadly, not in my area of Scotland.

I've spent most of today taking shots of a group of Redpolls that have visited my garden for the very first time. Most of the piccies are rubbish though as these little birds are sooooo quick. I'll try to remember to see if I have any worthwhile ones to show you.

Here are the best pictures I have of 'my' Redpolls Kay. Sorry they're not great but it was getting dark and I had to take the shots through the patio doors.

You can just make out the red on the head of the one in front in this one - hence their name of Redpoll.

Eileen, Those are nice photos. The little sweet redpolls must've been hungry :) I don't know that we have them here. Cute ones, they are.

Great pics of the birds, Kay and Eileen! The little nuthatch, red breasted, is so cute. I think I have seen them in my yard. The RedPoll looks kind of like our wrens?

I have been trying to get a picture of some little blue birds. The big jays are much easier but not too easy to catch. Like butterflies, birds do not sit and wait for you to take their pictures even when you ask nicely. You both did well getting those pictures.

Thanks for sharing, I haven't seen either of those birds at my feeders but I do have a white breasted nuthatch quite often. I had a new visitor yesterday the Eastern Towhee.

We have both species of nuthatches here too, and they're so much fun to watch...love how they walk upside down along the tree trunks! Love the pictures of the redpolls, they look similar to the red finches here.

I always wonder if the Nuthatches remember where they hide all the seeds in the tree trunks! :p
They are fun to watch moving down the trunks! Not many birds do that.

Eileen, you sure do have a few feeders there. Lots of interesting birds too.
