    The first time I saw a picture of a crossbill I honestly thought its bill was deformed. I was only around eight at the time - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! :p

    The bird is beautiful...and he looks like he has been marbleized.

    I've never seen such a bird. He is handsome but in an understated way -- the coloring is beautiful. Does his crossed bill serve a specific purpose? (I suppose I will google this question...)

    The bill is for opening pine cones. The seeds make them require a lot of water so I supply it for them. I did take a couple of pics when they came to the table just outside the window, you can see the different colors of them.
