It was informative to learn that Red Hot Pokers can flower in September.
One local man had a sign in his front yard that declared he had Red Hot Pokers for sale.

Well they must be in flower if he's selling them, I had to double check the flowering months..thinking last month they'd ended.

Plants are funny like that, they do not have a calendar so they bloom whenever they feel the need to. And down here in years when we do not have winter, all sorts of plants in my yard that also do not own a calendar will bloom to their hearts content all through the months deemed to be Winter.

@toni I think it's because the weather keeps going warmer and some of my plants on the back are still flowering when they shouldn't.

Putting plants next to a brick wall, driveway or any other place where radiant heat is provided makes the Should and Shouldn't a moot point. They bloom when the conditions are right for them to keep producing the energy to put out blooms.
Those bloom dates are more of an average than an absolute so don't expect your plants to necessarily follow them. Let the plants do their thing when they need to and when a plant blooms earlier or later than the information you have read, be thrilled that you unexpectedly have some beautiful blooms to enjoy.

toni I have to totally agree with you on this comment as it's the first year since we've been here in 10yrs that colour is still blooming in our garden...usually the flowers are dying off and some being cut back for winter.

Still got pokers flowering, very tall as well. I bought them off Facebook on the understanding they flower very late in the season. I have never seen anything grow so tall.

I also got miniature standard roses given me by next door and they have buds. Nature is weird.
