We planted 10 or 12 of these shrubs along the road last spring. We lost a couple to winter damage (animals) but I am amazed at how fast they have grown. Some are over 3 ft. tall. They were twigs when we planted them. I had forgotten that they would bloom until this week when I noticed this. I am looking forward to this winter to see if the twigs are as red as pictures that I have seen.
What a lovely phtograph. Will you be taking cuttings from the existing plants to replace the ones you lost Polly? You can get red, orange, green, yellow and black stemmed dogwoods here. They look stunning with their bare branches again snow if planted in clumps. I have a few of the red and green stemmed ones myself.
Polly I really like that pic too!!Are the blooms fragrant? They look like they would smell good!! Eileen I would love to see a pic of yours against the snow!! I bet the red ones are especially beautiful with the snow!!!
