You might remember my blog entry a while back titled "Adventures of Blaze, the Climbing Rose"
    http://www.gardenstew.com/blog/e285-146 ... -rose.html
She is now beginning to bloom, this is her first bloom in years and there are several more to come.

Last fall I chopped the three Freedom Hedge Rose bushes back almost to the ground. They had been stressed by too much rain during spring last year, then extreme dry and heat. I figured if they come back great, if not okay.
They are all filling up with buds too, this is the first to open.

Toni both of your roses are gorgeous. I have a while to wait yet before any of mine bloom. :( For someone who once said she didn't care much for roses I've definately changed my mind. :stew1:

I love the story of Blaze. Unbelievable really, but I'm glad she made it. :D Your roses are lovely. I'll have to wait for mine alongside Eileen.

mmm, I can almost smell them from here. I am shocked myself with the story of Blaze,, amazing and determined. Good for her! Both are beautiful roses, and I have a really long wait until the wild roses bloom here.

That is lovely Toni. I think I need to add a Blaze Climber to my "must have" list!
(Boy, that list is getting really long!)

Your roses are brillant in color. I find my nose up against the screen trying to smell them. I have a rose bush here that I wish I could do something with. It is tall and rambling, but is bare around the bottom. I wanted to cut it back, but did not know how or when . . . so I just threw used coffee grounds around it all winter long, and it seems to be perking up more. I wish I had your courage and knowledge. I thought about posting a pic . . . and getting some advice. Now I know who to ask . . . YOU! ;)

I haven't read the story of Blaze yet, but I can see from her picture she is a beauty. I have a Blaze that I almost shovel-pruned years ago due to blackspot but I gave it another year and it's much better now.

    Love your roses.

I had the same rose and mine also changed colors ...
Originally we got it from a family member in Tennessee and it was red
We moved to south louisiana and it took about two years before it bloomed and it came in white
We moved again and it took several years before it came back with red roses
we had the plant almost 20 years before
we moved and left it .....too bad
