It was a great Christmas today. One of our annual things that we wait for is the arrival of the seasonal cardinals. They usually show up close to Christmas. Tonight Laura looked out the window and counted 21 of them at the feeder. While we have a few cardinals that stay year around, the arrival of the "snowbirds" is a big annual event. They are out there now gobbling up seed and flitting about to various trees on the property to chat with other birds and catch up on all the gossip. They are also not too shy to fly over to the house and complain if the feeder is low on seed. These visitors are pretty pushy during the time they spend here, but we love them anyway. There is absolutely nothing better than a Redbird Christmas. Which reminds me, I do not read much of author Fanny Flagg's work but an exception is her book "A Redbird Christmas." If you have not had a chance to read it, please do so. It is a great Christmas read. dr

Merry Christmas DR - long time no see. I would love to have seen all those Cardinals with their bright plumage. I'll have a look on Amazon for that book. I do enjoy a good read.
Yep, gotta love the Cardinals. They are so very beautiful. We are lucky to have them reside year round. I love their calls, and in winter they stand out so pretty in the snow. Yes, they do appreciate the bird feeders we keep stocked.
