    Hello, People;
    I am Henry Johnson, USAF/USCG veteran, living in Central Florida. "jes' an ol' swamp-rat" with an avid interest in growing things, especially stuff to eat. My philosophy goes something like this; 'you can put food on your table cheaper than growing your own, but the super market can't/won't possibly compare to the QUALITY and nutritional value that you can produce in your own garden'. Hoping / expecting to learn much from you great folks.......Hank

    Permission granted and welcome aboard the Stew.
    I live in north Texas, lived in West Palm Beach for five years many, many years ago where you could stick a toothpick in the ground and it would leaf out in a couple of weeks.

    I grow mainly native plants and herbs. Tried vegies last summer but the extremely hot weather sucked the life out of them. I am hoping to put in some again this year.

    Permission granted Hank (or Henry?), welcome aboard the good ship Stew, plenty of room to stretch your gardening legs. A jolly great bunch of folks here you'll find. Self sufficiency through food from the garden is one of my dreams.

    Hoping you get to know us all very soon and learn lots!

    Hi there Hank!!

    You do realise that once you're on board the SS GardenStew that you're here for a long voyage don't you? As soon as you're on deck and we set sail there's no turning back. :D :D

    Good to have you on board shipmate and hope that you'll enjoy being here with us all as much as we'll enjoy having you here. :-D

    I'm from Scotland and grow fruit and a few veggies so it'll be good to compare notes with you.

    Hello and welcome from West Tennessee. It IS fun to grow your own veggies just to see how many varmints try to get a bite first. :rolleyes:

    Welcome aboard, and long may your garden prosper! Lots of flowers and bulbs over here in Oregon, my family won't eat as many veggies as I'd like to grow - I still put some in every year anyway, can't beat the taste of fresh-picked cherry tomatoes, warm from the sun.

    Howdy, Folks;
    Thanks bushels, already I feel "a little closer to the fire, not outside peeping in".
    To Stew (and all) who said; "Permission granted Hank (or Henry?)"; either name is o.k.
    Love to all..................hank
    P.S. I'm researching your tutorials, etc. on posting photos, will ask questions that I don't find the answers to during research.

    Permission granted, sir, from an old tar in New Orleans. I was never a US sailor, just a sailor in an old Hunter on Lake Pontchartain now and Lake Michigan many years ago.

    Welcome Henry, you've picked a fine place to come aboard. Hope we can be helpful and answer any questions you may have. Our soil here in Livingston Parish, Louisiana is rather poor, but we do try to grow a few veggies. Daylilies on the other hand seem to thrive here.
