I am having a new retaining wall put in and here are some before pics. The Old wall Why it's being replaced. The material for the new wall was delivered today. They will start putting it in the 1st week of Oct.
Oh, those bricks look pretty! I can see why you want to replace the old one. It's not retaining much any more, is it?
The wall blocks each weigh 80 pounds, that's why I am not doing it myself! The color is called Antique. There are wall toppers that are smooth and they will be glued on to the top row. I asked them about the warrenty on the blocks and they just said that you and your children won't have to worry about replacing it!
I can see why you definately need that old wall replacing. I think the new one is going to look soooo good once it's built. How will the soil behind the existing wall be kept in place until the new one is built though?
That's going to be a really nice wall, i'm getting to the stage where i'd think twice about lifting those blocks too. Hope the garden doesn't need to much replanting.
They will dig out some of the soil after they remove the old wall. Then a 12 inch footer and drain tile will go in. The footer will be packed gravel. Then as they start the wall, it will be backed with gravel and tile. Then the dug out soil will go on top and be graded down.
We glued our small wall on the cement patio and that stuff is real strong. They said we would have to chisel it off...It should be very interesting to watch...Sherry
